Caring for Leather: Maintenance Guidelines

Leather, being a natural material, necessitates proper care. When leather is maintained correctly, it develops a more exquisite appearance over time. Below are some recommendations:

– Utilize a soft brush for vacuum cleaning exclusively; avoid soap or water as they may diminish its velvety texture.

– Refrain from applying leather greases or submerging the material.

– Steer clear of chemical products like saddle soap, other leather cleaners, or household items.

– Shield leather from direct sunlight, extreme heat, and sharp objects.

Care and maintenance of Wood treated with oil: 

Here at Design Pre-Owned, we exclusively utilize vegetable oils for our treatment process. 

Maintenance Instructions Oil finish

For everyday upkeep, utilize a cloth dampened with lukewarm water. The surface can be revitalised with a fresh oil treatment. In such instances, ensure the surface is thoroughly clean and dry. Apply oil to the chair using a clean cloth, ensuring even distribution. Wipe off any excess oil with another clean dry cloth, always following the wood grain. Allow it to dry, which may take one to two days depending on the type of oil used. The necessary items include vegetable wood surface treatment oil, two clean cloths, and a plastic bag for disposing of oil-soaked cloth. Take care to avoid getting oil on materials like fabric or leather, as oil-treated furniture may leave grease marks until fully set. Hence, refrain from placing the furniture directly on carpets or on surfaces treated with soap for one to two weeks after the last oil treatment.

Caution:

Oil-soaked cloth is flammable and should be disposed of in a sealed container with water or stored in a closed metal container or glass jar.

3 step:
Pick up the chair by car, we only work in Denmark. We don’t pick up one chair a time. We normally pick up 20-30 chairs a time distance is ca 300 km, Quality control, Verification Process, Bring back to the warehouse, On the spot

4 step:
Chairs is driven to our locally partner. That makes the first hard polish by handcrafted 10-20 minutes/ chair. We pickup the chairs again ca 8 km from our warehouse. Præmal industrilakering is the name of the company that we work together with.

Step 5:
Wash chair 🧽 only water 💦 Handcrafted ca 10-15 minutes. Design pre owned staff repair and replace the entire chair so is ready for production. Handcrafted ca 10-20 minutes. Removed the old material/ fabric from the upholstery of the chair. Handcrafted 5-10 minutes polish again. Wash again with organic soap 🧼. Handcrafted 15-20 minutes. 2-3 cl of soap for this process. First layer of oil. Handcrafted 30-30 minutes. 4–5 cl of organic sand with sandpaper if necessary 5-10 minutes. Second layer of olio. Handcrafted 10 – 15 minutes. 2-3 cl organic oil

Step 6:
The upholstery sitting parts Are transported to the Local upholstery company for repair and replace. Here we use form ca 50-50 cm. Leather 60-60 cm second quality. 4 screws in brass. Transport is 3-4 km. Working hours ca 1-1,5 hours per chair. The parts are picked up after upholstery repair by design pre owned staff to our warehouse 3-4 km to bring it back to warehouse. Chair are now assembled again. Last quality control is made before. Photo is taken for the social media and design pre owned platform. To promote the brand and the chair to being past on to the next generation owner for sale. Time for this is ca 60-90 minutes

Step 7:
The design/chair is changing ownership

Design pre owned staff will make a delivery of the chair 🪑 by car to the customer.
We believe our customer is in Copenhagen so we will calculate ca transport to maximum 10km (locally with in Copenhagen) only.
There will be no package 📦, only blankets to cover the chairs, made of recycled cotton, and can be used 1000 times.

The costume will pick up their order in design pre owned warehouse in Copenhagen
Lifetime for the chair is 15-25 years our more for the costume
